It is with these expectations that most of us approach the beginning of January every year.

We get charged with enthusiasm and set goals and dreams to achieve, but along the way, we lose interest, as obstacles and setbacks arise. Although these are disturbing, they are the necessary ingredient that enable us to seek a degree of transformation. The effort required to achieve a goal is precisely the element that makes us improve and modify ourselves.

It is in our mind where we first lose the battle, where we begin to falter and ultimately give up. It’s that little internal voice that tells us: «don’t be silly and go back to your comfort zone, which is where you are most comfortable and safe.» Beware! The “comfort zone” is the dimension that totally lacks magic and glory. Most people who suffer from depression are because they reside in the “comfort zone”.

Permit me to share with you a technique that has worked for me in helping to not lose motivation, the lever that propels us to the desired path.

Every day I make it a habit to improve one percent, and not just in achieving my purpose, but in every little details of my day. When we surpass ourselves in our abilities, we receive an enormous sense of satisfaction. Improvement fuels our self-esteem and drives us forward. And this discipline has a double purpose. After 30 days you will have improved by thirty percent, and without realizing it, you will have developed the habit of excellence. It is very easy to achieve since it requires very little effort, and a lot of satisfaction.

The famous German writer, Goethe once said:
“Treat a man for what he is, and he will remain what he is, but treat him as what he can become and he will become what he is called to be”.

Wish you a year full of dreams and joys and above all good health.
