It is generally acceptable knowledge that in order for human beings to develop properly they need, water, food, oxygen, shelter, light, but equally important, caresses.

And I’m not just referring just to the touching that is so pleasant or the skin-to-skin contact. I am talking about what international renowned writer and speaker, Alex Rovira calls, “positive caresses.”

Positive caresses are displayed in an affectionate look, a gesture, a pleasant comment, a smile, a wink, an acknowledgment, a pat on the shoulder. When we lack positive caresses we begin to replace them with negative caresses, which is the opposite, we begin to make ugly faces, to frown for any nonsense, to raise our voices, slam the door.

To pay more attention to the cell phone than to the person next to you, just to mention a few behaviors. This impolite behavior of negative caresses does not develop overnight, but it does gain strength if we do not attend to the situation.

If you are interested in maintaining the relationship you have with your partner, with that person you love, make sure you are providing the correct amount of stroking, pleasant comments, smiling, winks, and always acknowledging. You will be entirely rewarded!

Joy is free.
Always carry it with you.
